Coronavirus Emergency Appeal
Coronavirus is the greatest challenge we have faced as an organisation.
Many of the people we support are very vulnerable, with underlying health conditions. We are working round the clock to keep them safe.
Already we have been hit with many thousands of extra costs on staffing, food packs, PPE and other safety equipment. All of this is happening at a time when other sources of income have been affected. We can’t continue on this trajectory without extra support.
How can you help?
By donating what you can, you’ll be helping us to continue to keep some of the most vulnerable people in society safe and well.
£10 will fund a package of PPE supplies and equipment to keep our care workers safe
£20 will fund an activity box to keep people with challenging behaviours occupied during lockdown
£100 will fund technology to keep people connected with friends and family during lockdown
Other ways you can help:
Many of the people we support are in high-risk categories (mainly due to age and/or underlying health conditions), and some need round the clock care in a residential or supported living home. Others live in their own homes, but still require some care at home for a certain number of hours per week.
The safety of people we support is our number one priority but we’re already starting to struggle with available teams to meet these requirements, due to self-isolation. This is likely to get worse in the coming weeks.
If you would like to help ensure we continue to provide critical support services we are looking for:
- people who can deliver activity packs and supplies to people who are living alone in their own home (this might be by car or on foot, depending on your location);
- drivers who can shop for essentials, or pick up prescriptions, and deliver them;
- drivers who are comfortable picking up a key worker who is normally reliant on public transport to ensure they can get to work;
- people who can lend a hand maintaining the gardens of our residential or supported living services, while our maintenance team is understaffed.
This list is constantly evolving, so please get in touch directly at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 01737 924102 to express interest in volunteering your time. All volunteering opportunities will conform to the government’s Social Distancing guidance, and you will be issued with key worker ID to enable you to move about freely
