Meet our Senior Team
Maria Mills – Chief Executive
Joined as the CEO in October 2015. She has an extensive background in the social care and health sectors and has worked in senior positions for a number of national charities and social enterprises, as well more local organisations. She brings with her a deep commitment to enabling people we support to shape their organisations, developing partnerships to provide integrated approaches to meeting needs and looks to create a deeper impact for our people and communities.
Jade Vallance – Director of Care
Joined Active Prospects in 2013 as the Service Manager for Domiciliary Care and in October 2015 became Head of Care, then Director of Care in 2017. Over 20 years’ experience in direct management in care and support and specialises in challenging needs and autism. Jade has worked for a number of charities and large national organisations providing support to people with learning disabilities and mental health needs. Qualified in 2004 as a registered care manager undertaking RMA and Level 4 Diploma In Care and in 2009 qualified as a conflict manager and resolution teacher.
Allison Barter – Director of Finance and Resources
Allison Barter joined Active Prospects in 2019 as a qualified accountant and has senior level Finance and Management experience in the not for profit, academic and commercial sectors. Her experience includes extensive work with Scope within the Financial Management and Development of their community based, residential and education services. Allison is committed to ensuring that finance and management support services contribute to the efficient and effective running of the organisation, in line with key objectives and the vision and mission.
Sue Stockman – Director of Business Development
Joined Active Prospects in November 2016. She has had extensive experience in the field of Business Development across the not for profit sector including at Fitzroy, Barnardo’s and Pepenbury. She has many years’ experience developing charitable services including for YMCA East Surrey, Young Epilepsy, The Grange Centre and Amicus Vision. In addition, Sue has experience in fundraising and appeals working for SANE and Scope.
Anna Thornley – Director of People and Recruitment
Anna joined as Director of People & Recruitment in January 2019. She is an experienced HR practitioner with a strong skill set in all areas of Generalist HR Management including HR strategy, change management and Organisational Development. Her career in the charity sector began at the British Red Cross where she held a number of operational and project roles. Anna has subsequently run her own consultancy enabling smaller charities to develop their people strategy. Anna holds a Masters in Personnel & Development and she is a Chartered member of the CIPD.
