Meet our Senior Team

Maria Mills – Chief Executive

Joined as the CEO in October 2015. She has an extensive background in the social care and health sectors and has worked in senior positions for a number of national charities and social enterprises, as well more local organisations. She brings with her a deep commitment to enabling people we support to shape their organisations, developing partnerships to provide integrated approaches to meeting needs and looks to create a deeper impact for our people and communities.

Jade Vallance – Director of Care

Joined Active Prospects in 2013 as the Service Manager for Domiciliary Care and in October 2015 became Head of Care, then Director of Care in 2017. Over 20 years’ experience in direct management in care and support and specialises in challenging needs and autism. Jade has worked for a number of charities and large national organisations providing support to people with learning disabilities and mental health needs.  Qualified in 2004 as a registered care manager undertaking RMA and Level 4 Diploma In Care and in 2009 qualified as a conflict manager and resolution teacher.

Joel Hartfield – Director of Business Development

Joel joined Active Prospects in September 2019. He started his career in a frontline role at a homelessness charity in London, before spending nine years in a variety of senior commissioning, policy and partnership roles in local authorities. In 2014, Joel moved back into the not-for-profit sector as the lead for Business Development and Communications at a social care and health provider. Joel has a keen focus on building new partnerships to provide greater opportunities for the people who Active Prospects support.

Lynsey Way – Clinical Lead

Lynsey joined in December 2018 as Active Prospects’ Clinical Lead. Lynsey is an Applied Psychologist with a MSC in Applied Psychology of Learning Disabilities and additional post graduate training in Positive Behaviour Support and Autism. Lynsey has 20 years experience of working with individuals with complex needs and developing clinical governance and strategy in social care. Lynsey is also the co-chair of Surrey PBS Network and won an award for leadership in PBS from BILD in 2017.

Kaushika Patel, Director of People & Recruitment

Kaushika joined Active Prospects in June 2019 with extensive operational and strategic experience in HR across many sectors, including social care and the health care sector. She is a commercially focused Senior HR professional who is skilled in employee relations, employment law and delivery of strategic HR projects. Kaushika is passionate about the people we support and has a focus to increase our engagement, enabling people to reach their potential. Kaushika is known for her integrity, compassion and strong work ethic with an ability to deliver.  She is an experienced people manager, who strives to embrace Active Prospects’ values within herself and others.

Ian Temple, Finance Director

Ian joined Active Prospects in January 2020 as a Finance Planning Manager and was promoted to Finance Director in April 2020. Ian has worked across a number of business sectors over the last 25 years and has a wide range of experience. He has previously held FD and Senior Head of Finance Roles in a  number of Blue Chip organisations focussing on both Commercial and Business Improvement as well as operational performance.

Chris George, Director of Property

Chris Joined Active Prospects in June 2021. He has nearly 30 years’ experience of managing housing repair and maintenance services, providing strategic asset management and delivering improvement programmes. He has worked in a variety of housing organisations, starting out as a maintenance surveyor and, in his previous role, working as a Group Asset Director. He is a Chartered Builder and has a wealth of knowledge on construction. Chris is committed to delivering customer focused services and also has a keen interest in the environment and is keen to make all our homes as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible.
