CQC State of Care Report highlights importance of community-based services

Today the CQC published the State of Care Report 2019. The report acknowledged the importance of specialist community-based services for people with learning disabilities and recognised the positive impact that this has on people’s lives.

Active Prospects has re-housed 14 people from inpatient settings in the last year to quality, community homes. We also share the need to have a real look at the Deprivation of Liberty Standards for people with learning disabilities. It is our responsibility to ensure these are applied with a real understanding of the impact and quality on a person’s life and the right setting for that person is identified.

In addition, we work in collaborative ways to ensure the development of staff is fully supported and the impact of initiatives, such as the Positive Behaviour Festival, enables us to share best practices and innovation in the sector, again with people’s experiences and aspirations at the centre.
