Time to Talk: Supporting open and safe conversations

Time to Talk is a national day that highlights the importance of talking about mental health. At Active Prospects, this approach is at the heart of our Active Wellbeing Coaching. Each person receives individually developed coaching that considers the right environment, personalised coaching techniques, and the discovery of their unique sparks — the interests and activities that help them feel calm, confident and connected.

This month, our Active Wellbeing members met in a local café, building LEGO together while talking side by side. This relaxed setting helps remove pressure and creates a space where conversation can develop naturally.

One Active Wellbeing member shared:

“It helped me relax and settle after a stressful week. I’d like to use this as a coping strategy when I’m feeling stressed.”

This reflects a key part of wellbeing coaching — supporting people to discover strategies that work for them, building confidence and giving them tools they can use in their everyday lives.

Connection and belonging

Shared activities help people feel more relaxed and able to be themselves. When the focus is on something they enjoy, conversations can happen more naturally, helping people connect and share their experiences. Over time, this builds confidence, strengthens relationships, and creates a real sense of belonging.

Creating these shared spaces is an important part of Active Wellbeing Coaching. They help people feel connected and understood, while developing confidence in themselves and their voice.

This peer connection is powerful. People are supported not only by their coach, but by each other — building friendships, reducing feelings of isolation, and creating a community where everyone feels they belong.

Discovering wellbeing sparks

Our Active Wellbeing Coaching focuses on discovering each person’s “sparks” — the interests and activities that help them feel calm, confident and at their best.

These sparks are different for everyone. They might be creative, social, active, or simply moments that help someone feel settled and comfortable.

Through coaching, people learn how to use their sparks as tools to support themselves — building confidence, strengthening independence, and helping them feel more in control of their own wellbeing and future.

Lasting impact

Time to Talk is an important reminder of the power of conversation. At Active Prospects, we believe everyone should feel able to talk — and be listened to — every day. Because when people feel heard and understood, they live the life they choose.
