World Mental Health Day

The theme of this year’s World Mental Health Day, on 10th October, is ‘Mental health in the workplace’. This initiative is part of the World Health Organization’s overall effort to raise awareness of the stigma surrounding mental health.

Research shows that employers and managers who put in place workplace initiatives to promote mental health and to support employees who have mental disorders see gains not only in the health of their employees but also in their productivity at work.

Active Prospects supports 31 people in East Surrey with mental health needs, offering supported accommodation and support for recovery through therapeutic and wellbeing activities. In order to mark World Mental Health Day, Active Prospects has teamed up with Stepping Stones, a South London based charity providing meaningful activities for adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs in the local area, to host a Quiz. The Quiz will include general knowledge and mental health questions which are designed to help raise awareness of mental health issues.

Support Workers will be facilitating people we support to attend the quiz on 10th October, which has prizes on offer for those who get the most questions correct.
