Elizabeth has been supported by Active Prospects for ten years and is a shining example of people we support living a full and aspiring life.

Elizabeth has been a member of the Pro-Active Committee, our governance body of people we support, since its inception. In 2017 Elizabeth also joined our Quality Checker team which undertakes visits to our services to check how well we are supporting people and the quality of their home environments. Elizabeth says this is a role that she loves as it makes her feel involved.  Alongside this role, she also undertakes volunteering three mornings a week at the Cancer Research UK charity shop in Oxted.

Our co-production themes have given Elizabeth the opportunity to get involved in new activities with the assistance of her Support Worker, and also allowed her recently to make a new friend, Alison, at one of our other services. They are already planning a spring outing to the Wildlife Centre in Lingfield together.

In 2017 Elizabeth was awarded an Active Prospects People Award for her work with the Pro-Active Committee and the Quality Checker team, as well as her contribution to the organisation through her delivery of Makaton training for staff.

On World Down Syndrome Day, Wednesday 21st March 2018, we would like to recognise Elizabeth’s hard work and commitment to Active Prospects and her local community. #WDSD18
