Axes Lane – Supported Living

Overview

Axes Lane is a vibrant and creative supported living service for young people with complex care needs.

What support is available

Support provided at Axes Lane is informed by a Positive Behaviour Support framework and includes a focus on wellbeing. Staff are given additional training in sensory support approaches, autism, PBS and inclusive communication. Maybo and Active Support are also provided.

Facilities

Axes Lane offers two self contained adjoining flats, and a detached annex with its own small garden. In addition, there is a sensory room and a large sensory garden. Young people living at Axes Lane can expect plenty of fun and opportunity to explore their personal interests, whether that is sports, arts, visiting places of interest, or working on their life skills and gaining independence in their flats.

Local area

The service is situated in a semi-rural area on the outskirts of Redhill in Surrey. Redhill is a busy town with lots to do, including a large college and several support groups and therapeutic projects for tenants to engage with. It has a pedestrianised high street, with a wide range of shops including the Belfry Shopping Centre; Warwick Quadrant; a street market each Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and occasional French market. Supermarkets in the town include a large Sainsbury, and Marks and Spencer Food Hall; and there is a choice of GP surgeries and dentists. Redhill is near to Reigate and has easy access to Crawley, Gatwick, Croydon, London and Brighton. It is at the junction of the A23 and A25 roads, and the M25 and M23 motorways are within three miles. Redhill has its own railway station and numerous bus services are operated to the town including route 100 to Crawley which is part of the Fastway bus rapid transport system. London Gatwick Airport is only 6 miles from Redhill, and there is also the local Redhill Aerodrome.
