Wellbeing comes first

Our Health and Wellbeing Week

This week, Active Prospects have been enjoying a Health and Wellbeing Week, organised by staff and people we support. The team have arranged a fantastic range of activities for staff and people we support, such as treatments, reflexology, neck and shoulder massage to relieve stress or anxiety, hand massage, taster tennis sessions donated by Boom Tennis, YMCA tailor made sessions of accessible yoga and circuit sports.

The activities encourage people to try something new, join in with events or spend time in their teams or with friends. This all goes a little way to show respect and appreciation for everything everyone has coped with over the past months.

The impact of the pandemic has strengthened our commitment to making health and wellbeing a priority at Active Prospects. We set up a Wellbeing Committee last year to deliver on the Active Prospects three-year Wellbeing strategy. This enables staff and people we support to share their ideas.

Also being launched is our new campaign of the Power of 5. This campaign looks at our health and wellbeing in terms of 5. For example, 5 fruit and veg a day, 5-minute breaks, 5 acts of kindness, 0-5 Km walk or run. This helps people to make small, manageable commitments, which can be tailored to their abilities and interests. The aim is to make positive changes to routines and habits, for a lasting impact on their health and wellbeing.
