We are delighted to announce that The Pro-Active Community has been chosen as one of the winners of Dimensions 2019 Learning Disability and Autism Leaders’ List – the UK’s first national list which recognises people with learning disabilities and autism who are challenging stereotypes and entrenched social prejudices, to make communities better for themselves and others.
Lizzie Wheeler, The Pro-Active Community Chair, said, “I am so proud of what we have achieved and it makes me feel great that we have won. We just want to do more and more.”
The Pro-Active Community shared this video as their nomination. They entered because they want to reach more people. Read the full story through Dimensions here.
Sarah Clarke, Dimensions Campaign Manager said, “We’re incredibly proud to be celebrating The Pro-Active Community, whose work is not only challenging perceptions but also inspiring others and showing the world that everyone can make a difference.
““Everyone can learn something from people with learning disabilities and autism. We hope people like The Pro-Active Community inspire change and demonstrate that we all play an important part – from individuals to decision makers – to make society more inclusive.
“We hope The Pro-Active Community inspires others and helps them realise that their ambition – however big or small, can make a real difference.”
