Active Prospects awarded National Lottery Funding
Active Prospects was delighted to secure a significant Big Lottery Fund grant to expand its social enterprises recently.
Thanks to National Lottery players, just over £350,000 has been awarded to our supported employment, volunteering, and internship programmes, creating new opportunities for people we support and for those with learning disabilities or mental health needs living locally.
The grant will enable us to:
- Open a charity shop in Reigate which will focus on vintage and designer wear, increasing our local presence and awareness of our work
- Open a pop-up cafe, running one day a week in a local venue, offering people we support the chance to gain food preparation, catering and front of house skills
- Create a new gardens maintenance enterprise for our own properties, and other care homes and public spaces in the future
- Recruit two new job coaches to provide crucial support to those taking part in the various programmes, enabling them to maximise skills development and employment-enabling.
Director of Business Development at Active Prospects, Sue Stockman, said: “I was absolutely thrilled to hear we had been awarded an Big Lottery Fund grant. Our charity shop in Horley, and our current programmes of supported volunteering and internships, have enabled us to prove our model of skills development and employment-enabling really works. This has allowed us to secure significant funding from the National Lottery ‘Big Lottery Fund’ which means we can expand our programmes to benefit more local people.”December 23, 2018
