Macmillan coffee morning proves great success

Active Prospects was delighted with the fantastic turnout to its coffee and cake morning, run as part of the Macmillan ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ on 29th September 2017. The event was organised by the Pro-Active Committee, with members Leanne and Pat driving forces behind its’ success.

The people we support made a delicious range of cakes, from lemon drizzle, to fruit cake and toffee cupcakes! An overwhelming number of people we support and staff turned up to support the event, and the atmosphere was friendly and jovial, with people from across our services mingling and chatting as they enjoyed their treats. A healthy dose of coffee and tea energised this already buzzing coffee morning.

Pat, from Community Prospects, and chair of the Pro-Active Committee, said: “The atmosphere was friendly and jolly and everyone really enjoyed it. I had a great time making a fruit cake for the event and it seemed to go down well.” In total, £90.75 was raised for the MacMillan nurses, which everyone involved in the event was very pleased with.

Fairy cakes, lemon drizzle, walnut cakes, a range of cupcakes and even a gluten-free sponge cake were all on display under the colourful bunting. The Coffee Morning was a great success, with an impressive turnout, delicious treats from all services, and a healthy amount of money raised for a wonderful cause.

Thank you to all of those who came for making it such a special event!
