Strengthening local relationships to support the future of adult social care

Active Prospects recently welcomed Shadow Councillor David Buxton MBA OBE, Cabinet Executive Member for Adult Social Care and Health at East Surrey Council, to two of our complex care services.

The visit provided an opportunity to share our expertise, introduce Cllr Buxton to colleagues and people we support, and discuss the future of adult social care locally. Discussions explored the challenges facing the sector and how specialist, community-based support can help more people live independently in their own homes.

In recent years, we have supported more than 50 people to move from long-term hospital settings into their own homes. This experience gives us valuable insight into the planning, partnerships and personalised support needed to make these transitions successful.

Maria Mills, CEO of Active Prospects, said:

“I’m incredibly proud to welcome David to Active Prospects and to have the opportunity to show him some of the fantastic work happening across our organisation. Most importantly, it’s a chance for him to meet our brilliant teams and the people we support, and to see what supporting people to lead aspiring lives looks like in practice.”

We thank Councillor Buxton for his time and look forward to continued dialogue with councillors and local partners, sharing our experience to help shape high-quality, sustainable social care and support more people to lead aspiring lives.
