Celebrating our Staff: The heart of Active Prospects

At Active Prospects, our dedicated staff are at the core of everything we do. Their compassion and expertise help people with learning disabilities and autistic people achieve greater independence and fulfilment in their lives.

This year, we celebrate and honour four incredible team members retiring after many years of dedication. Josefina Jose, who recently retired after 20 years of service, is now enjoying her well-earned time in Mauritius. Martha Seaney will retire on 30 November after 20 years of remarkable service with Active Prospects. Geeta Mattarooa and Sharon Leonard, each with 15 years of service to Active Prospects and decades more in the care sector, will also retire in the coming months. We are thrilled that both Geeta and Sharon will return as bank staff, continuing to bring their knowledge and compassion to our team.

This week, we joined together to meet with long-serving staff to celebrate their incredible commitment over the years. Combined, they have over 120 years of dedication at Active Prospects. Together, we enjoyed a lunch, sharing stories and reflecting on the meaningful impact of their work.

Leonard, who recently marked 40 years in care. Reflecting on her journey, Sharon shared,

“It’s been an incredible privilege to see lives transform over the years. Knowing I’ve played a part in helping people achieve independence and happiness is something I’ll always cherish.”

We also celebrate Lou Launchbury, who has reached a significant milestone of 10 years at Active Prospects. Lou said:

“Today marks 10 years working at Active Prospects, the longest I have worked anywhere and now a total of 15 years in Adult Social Care. I started here as a supported living administrator in 2014 and over time and through a global pandemic, this organisation has doubled in size and become such an amazing place to be. I came to find that there are more pathways in care, and I am now managing a range of care tech and systems.”

Another long-serving staff member, Greeta Mattarooa, shared her pride in her 15-year journey with us:

“I have loved working for Active Prospects for 15 years, it is an incredible organisation. I have supported people for so long now that I truly feel as though I am part of the family. Being recognised and enjoying a day with everyone celebrating our years at Active Prospects meant a lot to me—it’s memories I will remember.”

Our staff’s dedication and knowledge are the foundation of our success, and we are grateful for their vital contributions. Thank you to our staff for being the heart of Active Prospects and creating aspiring lives for people we support.
