October has been full of music, colour and personal stories as colleagues across Active Prospects have come together to celebrate Black History Month.
From the energy of our annual celebration to colleagues sharing the traditions, histories and cultures that have shaped their lives, the month has given us plenty to celebrate and learn from together.

Culture and celebration
Our annual Black History Month event brought people from across Active Prospects together through music and cultural dress. It was a chance to spend time together, share traditions and celebrate the cultures represented across our organisation.
Alongside the event, colleagues have spoken in their own words about what Black History Month means to them. Their stories have helped us learn more about the experiences and histories of the people we work alongside.
Why these conversations matter
Black History Month provides an opportunity to recognise Black history, culture and contributions, including stories that have too often been overlooked.
At Active Prospects, this connects directly to our values of Caring, Including and being Vocal. Putting those values into practice means making space for people to share their experiences, listening to what they tell us and build a true sense of belonging.
Carrying these values forward
Culture, identity and belonging shape Active Prospects throughout the year. They influence how colleagues feel at work and how people we support experience their support.
As we look ahead, we want to build on these connections and keep creating opportunities for people to share, learn and contribute.
Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences and joined this year’s celebrations. You have brought Black History Month to life and helped strengthen the connections that support our shared commitment to people leading aspiring lives.
