News from our annual Star Awards

Active Prospects held its annual Star Awards, to celebrate our staff and people we support. Thursday 16th September at Hartsfield Manor in Surrey, the glittering awards ceremony celebrates excellence across Active Prospects’ services. It celebrates staff demonstrating exemplary values, and the outstanding achievements of the people with learning disabilities, physical and mental health needs that the organisation supports through its residential and community teams.

CEO, Maria Mills, said: “It was an inspiring, moving and powerful evening. A real reflection of the wonderful work of our staff, and the aspiring lives led by the people we support.”

“I am incredibly proud of the work our staff do in enabling adults with learning and physical disabilities, and mental health needs to lead enriched lives in their local communities. Active Prospects is a successful and growing local charity. Our Star Awards give us the chance to recognise and celebrate people’s contribution to our journey.”

  • Most Aspiring Person Award: There were three outstanding winners showing that they overcome great challenges to make a positive difference. One of which Emma Levallee completed her Peer Leadership course, is a trained quality checker, delivers excellent workshops through the Active Living programme, helps others, and still finds time to fundraise.
  • Most Active Person Award: The inspirational winners of this award made such incredible efforts to be pro-active and take part in activities that have positive impact on their lives and others. Matt Leadbeater, for instance, uses his amazing fundraising skills to raise a lot of money for a lot of charities. Since lockdown he has even started his own radio show, climbed the O2 raising more than £1200 for Active Prospects, and continues to work a part-time job.
  • Exceptional Teamwork through the pandemic: Community Prospects team: Our Community Prospects team provides support to people living in their own home. The team has worked amazingly hard throughout the pandemic. They have been flexible, dependable, supportive and without their generosity and dedication, the people they support would not have been able to lead their lives safely during such traumatic times.

Nominations flooded in across 15 categories celebrating outstanding efforts and achievements across the organisation.  For some there had to be more than one winner as they showcased such aspiring qualities.  Winners of Star Awards 2021 included:

This was the organisation’s first hybrid event, allowing everyone across the organisation to join in with the live ceremony.  The deserving winners received a star trophy, gift voucher and a certificate.

This annual event really showcases the dedication, aspiration, and care that staff and supported people of Active Prospects have.  It’s truly inspirational and rewarding to see and fantastic to celebrate these achievements and qualities.
