Active Prospects wins National Employer of the Year Award

Active Prospects has won a prestigious national employer award, overcoming stiff competition from eleven other not-for-profit care providers.

At a gala evening in Birmingham, Active Prospects came out on top in the Employer of the Year (Not for Profit) category at the National Learning Disability and Autism Awards 2024.

The National Learning Disability and Autism Awards are the leading sector awards for organisations working with people with learning disabilities and autistic people. Finalists in the Employer of the Year included much larger, national care providers, but the judging panel recognised Active Prospects as “an inspirational business that aims high to deliver excellence in all areas and supports people to lead aspiring lives. A strong family feel where staff are rewarded, valued and supported to maximise their potential. Staff see opportunity which is harnessed to incredible effect. Their passion and ambition shone through making them worthy winners.”

Additionally, Jack Darnell and Chris Lloyd were finalists in the Support Worker and Manager of the Year categories.

Maria Mills, CEO, said: “This award is a testament to our energy, dedication, and values of everyone at Active Prospects. It reflects the significant impact we have made together, working alongside the people we support. We recognise that our organisation cannot stand still, and the field of social care presents challenges, especially with limited resources. However, we remain committed to listening, adapting, and evolving together. Our staff dedication changes the lives of many people.”

Active Prospects is a charitable care provider which supports over 400 people with learning disabilities, physical and mental health needs, and autistic people each year, employing 450 staff and managing 35 residential and supported living services in the south-east.

Active Prospects is recognised nationally for its work in supporting people with complex needs to move from long-term hospital settings into their own homes. Over the last five years, it has developed new homes for over 50 people to make this transition, with a 95% success rate.
