Active Prospects’ Jade Vallance wins national award

Active Prospects’ Jade Vallance won a National Award at The National Learning Disabilities & Autism Awards. This celebrates excellence in the support of people with learning disabilities and/or autism.  Jade was the winner, from a shortlist of 13, of the Social Care Covid Hero award, which is awarded to an individual who has gone above and beyond during the Covid crisis.

Jade, our Director of Care, has shown superhuman leadership, selflessness, dedication and innovation during the pandemic. She has consistently gone the extra mile. She kept people we support and staff safe through clear advice and training, and demonstrating decisive, farsighted leadership.

The judging panel celebrated Jade as an “Incredible leader whose foresight and early actions weeks before any official government advice to do so, has undoubtedly saved huge numbers of lives. From securing contracts with PPE suppliers, grants for ipads, setting up and running community and staffing groups and even having spells working within Covid wards, to make sure her service users felt safe. Jade went above and beyond to do all she could to ensure the safety for not only her own company but also the wider community. Jade fully deserves all the recognition she gets for such incredible work during such a terrible time.  A true Covid Hero.”

Maria Mills, Chief Executive of Active Prospects, said:

“Jade has shown exemplary leadership through Covid.  She moved into a service for a week when the whole staff become infected, always leading from the front and prioritising people’s safety. Jade ensured everyone has been updated with changing guidance and legislation.  She is truly a Covid Hero always remaining positive, empathetic and passionate.”

Active Prospects congratulates Jade for winning the Social Care COVID Hero Award. She is a true inspiration, who led by example during a time of crisis. Through her determination, dedication and values, she continues to make an incredible difference to people’s lives. Not all heroes wear capes!
