Active Prospects Hosts Inspiring Annual Joint Governance Conference 2024

We recently gathered for the annual Joint Governance Conference, held at Reigate Manor. The event brought together people we support, dedicated staff, and key stakeholders, all united by a shared mission of celebrating our achievements and setting priorities for the year ahead.

The morning began with a warm welcome from Maria Mills, CEO, and Leanne Yeo, Chair of The Pro-Active Community, who reflected on the past year’s successes and the incredible stories of progress. Their introductions set a positive, uplifting tone for a day focused on co-creating a vision for 2025. Attendees, including Liz Williams, a key figure from Surrey Heartlands, were invited to share their perspectives on how Active Prospects can continue to grow, innovate, and positively impact lives.

Liz Williams, a Joint Strategic Commissioning Convener for Learning Disability and Autism, spoke passionately about the power of community involvement and the importance of co-production in shaping meaningful support services. Her address underscored the synergy between Active Prospects’ goals and broader health and social care priorities, encouraging all present to think big as they develop ideas for the future.

Throughout the morning, participants engaged in interactive sessions designed to encourage open discussion and fresh ideas. These sessions invited attendees to reflect on the strengths that make Active Prospects unique and to consider how these strengths could be harnessed for the coming year. Topics included how technology could be used to enhance support, ways to streamline processes for maximum efficiency, and strategies to elevate fundraising efforts in innovative and engaging ways.

At the heart of the day was a commitment to collaboration and co-production. Attendees split into groups to explore these focus areas in depth, each contributing insights and ideas to shape priorities. This collaborative atmosphere was reflected in the Active Prospects Wall, a space where attendees shared messages of appreciation and joyful moments, capturing the spirit of unity and purpose that defines the organisation.

The conference concluded with a buffet lunch, giving everyone a chance to connect informally and further discuss the exciting ideas generated throughout the morning. The event reinforced Active Prospects’ commitment to supporting everyone within the organisation to have a voice, establishing its role as an organisation where people with learning disabilities, autistic people, and those with mental health needs are supported in leading full, independent, and aspirational lives.

Looking Ahead

As we move forward, the priorities and strategies co-created at this year’s Joint Governance Conference will play a pivotal role in shaping our work in 2025. We’re grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to this inspiring day. Together, we are building a future where Active Prospects continues to lead in creating meaningful opportunities and supporting individuals to live fulfilling lives.

Stay tuned as we bring these priorities to life over the coming year!
