New Supported Living Homes Open in Horley

Today, Active Prospects was proud to welcome the first group of tenants to move into a brand new supported living development in central Horley. The first five tenants have moved into the first townhouse, with eleven more people due to move into the remaining townhouse and six apartments over the next two months.

As the care and support provider selected by the Council after a competitive tender process, we will work closely with people to support them to setting into their new homes and gain greater independence in their daily lives.

Earlier this month, we attended an on-site event to celebrate the completion of the new £8.2million supported independent living development.

Maria Mills, CEO, Active Prospects, said: “We are delighted to be working with Surrey County Council on this new development in Horley. For many people moving in, this will be the first time they’ve had a space they can call their own, and a real opportunity to shape life in a home that is truly theirs. At Active Prospects, our approach is rooted in listening, understanding what matters to each person and working with them to build support that is right for them. The smart technologies used in the new homes, such as voice controls, sensors and apps, are tools to help people build greater independence in their daily lives, while knowing we are here when needed.”

“Through partnership working, we’re successfully making progress towards a Surrey where people can lead aspiring lives with choice, support and inclusion.”

The properties will accommodate sixteen people across six individual one-bedroom flats and two townhouses, with each townhouse featuring five ensuite bedrooms alongside shared lounges and kitchens. All homes are equipped with smart technology to enable more independent living.

The new homes are part of Surrey County Council’s wider Right Homes, Right Support strategy, which aims to create specialist accommodation within local communities to help people achieve greater independence. This approach closely aligns with our mission at Active Prospects to enable people with learning disabilities, autistic people, and people with mental health needs to live aspiring and independent lives.

Sinead Mooney, Surrey County Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said: “These new homes in Horley are a fantastic example of how we’re delivering for Surrey – helping people lead fulfilling lives with the right support, in the right place.”

By partnering in this initiative, we’re proud to contribute our expertise in person-centred support and inclusive housing, ensuring that sixteen people will have the opportunity to thrive in a home that meets their needs.

At Active Prospects, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a life of choice, with the right support for them in place. Through innovative housing, person-centred care, and strong partnerships, we’re committed to creating environments where people can thrive, feel valued, and be part of their community. This development in Horley is a powerful example of how we’re turning that vision into reality.
