Care Talent Collective wins Workforce Innovation Award

The Care Talent Collective – an innovative collaboration between seven Surrey-based care providers, led by Active Prospects – has won the Workforce Innovation Award at the annual Surrey Care Awards.

The annual Awards are organised by Surrey Care Association and bring together Surrey care providers to celebrate the achievements of individuals, teams and organisations in delivering excellent care to people in Surrey. Representatives of the Care Talent Collective received the award from TV presenter (and former care worker) Judi Love.

The Care Talent Collective has seven founding members: Active Prospects, The Grange, Halow, Millsted Care, Peak15, Strada Care, and Surrey Choices, who between them support over 2,000 people with learning disabilities and autistic people each year.  The Care Talent Collective was set up in late 2023 thanks to a grant from the Surrey Workforce Innovation Fund, which was created by the Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care Board to encourage innovative workforce practice across the Surrey health and care system.

The grant has enabled the Care Talent Collective to pilot a fast-track management pathway and enhanced apprenticeship to encourage ambitious, talented people into the local care sector. Since the pilots were launched, the Care Talent Collective has branched out to become the lead provider for Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training in Surrey. Through the Oliver McGowan programme, the Care Talent Collective will be training over 4,000 frontline health and social care staff in Surrey during 2025 while providing paid employment for over 40 people with learning disabilities and autistic people. This has been made possible through support from the Surrey Heartlands Health & Social Care Academy.

Joel Hartfield, Director of Business Development at Active Prospects, said: “The award is recognition for all the hard work put in by Care Talent Collective members, backed up by a spirit of collaboration. We’re grateful for the support we’ve received from Surrey Heartlands and the Health & Social Academy. It’s still early days but we’re delighted with what we’ve achieved so far and are excited about what the future will bring.”
