Our flagship service, Great Meadows, is now open

The first people have now moved into our new flagship service, Great Meadows, in the heart of Surrey, which offers people with complex behaviours an opportunity to build their independence within their own purpose-built flat.

Great Meadows was built thanks to a NHS capital grant, and we have worked alongside local authority and NHS colleagues to offer new homes to people most in need. Active Prospects’ CEO, Maria Mills, said:

“Active Prospects has been recognised for our expertise across the sector as we continue to provide life skills and homes for people with complex needs. Great Meadows is another great example of our work as we open this aspirational new service for people who have spent many years in hospitals. We are excited for people to move in and start their new lives. This development would not have been possible without NHS Capital funding, and we are thankful for their support.”

The new service provides 6 individual homes with their own gardens and offers inclusive design. All the flats are accessible and safe for people we support with high needs, including design features such as assistive technology, soft hooks and breakaway bars in wardrobes or kitchen fittings.

Great Meadows offers large communal spaces for people to develop independent skills or use for social time. It is also positioned next door to our allotment, offering further opportunities to enjoy exercise in green space.

Last year, Active Prospects delivered a 64% reduction in people’s significant behaviours of concern through our specialist support programmes, with a 100% success rate for placements for people leaving hospitals with no placement breakdowns or readmissions to hospital.
