Congratulations to Matt Leadbeater, who has won an award at the Mayor of Reigate & Banstead’s Volunteering Awards. Matt was presented with his award at a ceremony at the Harlequin Theatre in Redhill, which was held to celebrate the contributions made by individual and team volunteers in the borough of Reigate & Banstead over the last year.
Matt won his award for his voluntary fundraising on behalf of Active Prospects, the Pro-Active Community and Children in Need. He has made such a contribution through his volunteering that he was recently given a part-time paid fundraising job.
We are all grateful to Matt for his volunteering and proud of his achievements. We look forward to seeing him continue to grow!
Matt’s success is an example of the contributions that people with a learning disability, or autistic people, can make in the workplace if they are given an opportunity. Around 7% of people with learning disabilities in Surrey are in paid employment. We would love to talk to more employers about the benefits of giving paid or volunteering opportunities to experts by experience – to find out more, please get in touch at info@activeprospects.org.uk .
