Poetry competition incites positivity

Active Prospects activity program – Active Living – ran a poetry competition for staff and people we support throughout the month of April. With two categories running, one being submission of already written poems or pieces that mean something to an individual, and the other being an original piece. With so many great submissions, it was hard to decide upon a winner, however congratulations to Charlie, for his original piece titled: Positivity.

Positivity

Her name was Positivity.
She was dancing whimsically,
In the midst of lucid imagery.
Nothing but the universe reflecting,
Inexplicably.
You could always tell,
Where she be.
The sun followed her, vividly.
Sometimes hard to find,
But always near to be,
In the right place, typically.

The others adored and loved her.
She could brighten the clouds,
When there was thunder.
She would turn a frown upside, under.
Some tried to shun her.
Only to fall under,
The spell of happy and,
Joyful wonder.

Everywhere she went, she was smiling,
A timely Ray of sunshine in,
Everyone’s lives and,
Always kindly.
Ready, packing happy,
Both positive and charming.

Some claim she doesn’t exist.
Some claim she’s just a dreadful wish.
Something people used to tell their kids.
Just keep reality as it is.

Then came the knocking,
Someone at the door with something.
What can this person be wanting?
Open the door, just to be confronted,

A smile so wide it left the person,
Stumped in, a state of gushing,
Sudden rushing of blood, blushing,
A curious longing, for a something,
That something is nothing,
Other than the positivity jumping,
Inside your body.

Where does it come from?
I, I think somethings wrong.
I feel happy, I feel numb.
What’s your name again, hun?
My name is Positivity Won,
And my middle name’s Fun.
